March is Women's History Month & I am excited to once again be producing a show with the new west coast chapter of The Red Rose Project!
We'll be presenting a tribute on March 26th at Seattle's Royal Room to some wonderful women composers & lyricists from over the past 100 years ~ Dorthy Fields, Ann Ronell, Maria Grever, Joni Mitchell, Marian McPartland, Peggy Lee, Dolly Parton, Siedah Garrett, Carol King, Abbey Lincoln … and many many more!
The Red Rose Project band for this show will include Nelda Swiggett (Keys), Marina Christopher (Bass), Taryn Zickefoose (Drums) Marge Rosen (Trumpet) , Ann Nordling (Sax) and myself Jean Lenke on vocals.
We are also blessed to have some special appearances by vocalists Nicole Walters, Rani Weatherby, Kim Maguire, Sarah Shea, & more!
The Red Rose Project takes their name in honor of Violet Oakley and her "Red Rose Girls" who chose to live and work together in solidarity, focused on their art. We don't live together but we do love working together and we love playing great music written by women.
ADMISSION: $15 adv/$18 door/$5 Students with ID at Door. Doors at 6:30pm
