Today I released my second "single", HOME AT LAST , a Steely Dan cover, interpreted in my way of course though contemporary Jazz. I am so proud of it. It's a real step out-of-my box, so to speak!
My release of HOME AT LAST is a prelude to the release of my full album, RESTLESS!, on Friday December 13th. It's a testament to the magnificent things that can happen when you throw away the plan and just let the music happen. With no horn player in the studio I found myself “emergency scatting” like I use to do in practice, filling in as the horn. The result is delightful & quite brilliant, I think! It makes me smile very time it starts!
* Studio musicians on both tunes include Tom Lawton, organ,
Jim Stager, bass, Erik Johnson, drums & Kevin Hansen on guitar.
This tune speaks to me of the restlessness we experience on our voyage through life and love. Sometimes, serene, sometimes turbulent, we all experience different things, and the tides can turn at any moment. Sometimes you just have to hold on for the wild ride and see where the seas will take you. Sometimes you just have to get up and move on.
“Could it be that I have found my home at last, Home at last?".
* You can find HOME AT LAST today on most major listening platforms, also with my Joni Mitchell cover, HELP ME, released earlier this month. Just search "Jean Lenke Home at Last" or click one of the links below.
